Medal of Honor Executive Producer Talks Dual Development, Call of Duty Competition, Beards
Dec 28, 2009 - By Lawrence Sonntag
Medal of Honor (2010) Executive Producer Greg Goodrich weaved his PR skills in efficiently dodging delicate questions and positively spinning others regarding the upcoming reboot of the evergreen World War 2 shooter. In part 1 of the interview, Goodrich comments on the logistic difficulties of including two development teams on a single game with EA Los Angeles handling the single player and EA DICE the multiplayer. In an answer-that-isn’t-a-real-answer, he commented that they have “two world class studios doing their very best to give them an experience that they’ll not soon forget.”
Eventually addressing the natural connection most gamers have made in part 2, Goodrich welcomed the similarities to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. “We knew this would be the very first thing people would focus on,” Goodrich admitted, “and quite frankly, it’s a nice comparison.” He goes on to explain that he’s a fan of Modern Warfare, so being placed in a group with that game isn’t remotely a bad thing.
Goodrich then deflected a list of queries about the game, making noncommittal comments about future games set in World War 2, open multiplayer betas, and surprises from EA in 2010. Fortunately, Goodrich could promise one gameplay element: “Big, thick, bushy, manly, vigorous and virile, Kevlar-woven, combat beards.”
That explains the fellow on the cover.
