MC Hammer LCD Game Sold on eBay
By Jared Newman
Before the Game Boy made all my portable gaming dreams come true, I used carry around two or three of these Tiger portable LCD games at a time, but I never came across one based on MC Hammer. 1UP found a now-closed auction for the game on eBay, which provided no details on how the game actually works. Fortunately, I found the instruction manual (PDF) for MC Hammer U Can’t Touch This on Hasbro’s Web site. The game apparently has three modes: Challenge mode requires you to watch Hammer dance, then mimic his moves, kind of like Simon; Creative mode lets you bust whatever moves you want; and Practice mode helps you execute specific moves so you can perform better in the other two modes.
The instruction manual also has some gems in its description of the game:
Rap music has never been the same since M.C. Hammer blazed onto the scene with the kind of moves no one has ever seen before!
But now there is a chance for a new star to be born. Will it be you? But to be the ultimate rap star, you have to pay your dues!
…
Lace up your shoes, listen to the beat, and get ready to move your feet!
Really sad I missed this auction. A couple screengrabs of the manual below. [1UP via TinyCartridge]
