World’s Most Expensive PS3 is Covered in Gold, Diamonds
By Benjamin Opal
Let’s just throw it out there: This gold-plated, diamond-studded Playstation 3, which claims to be the priciest of all the gold-plated, diamond-studded Playstation 3s, doesn’t look real. I mean, lens flares? Seriously? But sure enough, luxury gadget outfitter Stuart Hughes has the Sony PS3 Supreme listed on his Web site, claiming that it’s the priciest console ever sold. “Officially the most individual and expensive PS3 in the world. Twelve weeks of unambiguous workmanship was involved to fashion this beautiful console,” the site says. With that in mind, you’d think he could at least hire a decent graphic designer to make this thing look good in Photoshop.
At 199,995 Pounds (about a grand shy of $320,000), the PS3 Supreme far exceeds the cost of a 24-carat gold-plated PS3 Slim that surfaced earlier from Computer-Choppers. That’s probably because of the 58 diamonds that line the sides of the disc tray, each 0.5 carats. And because it’s the PS3 fat, you need more gold — 3.5 pounds, in this case — to cover the whole surface. No word on hard drive size or accessories, but if you’re buying a $320,000 video game console, would you even play it or just show it off? In any case, only three of these luxury PS3s will be made, so you’d better act soon. I love how you can just add it to your shopping cart. [Stuart Hughes via Ubergizmo]
