Your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Pre-Launch Primer
Nov 09, 2009 - By Benjamin Opal
As expected, the buzz around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hit a fever pitch today, just one day before the game’s worldwide launch. So, just sit around and wait, then? Of course not. There’s plenty to do if you can’t stay still for “the biggest entertainment launch of all time.” Why not start by reading a couple early Modern Warfare 2 reviews? Claiming that “embargoes collapse amid pre-launch frenzy,” The Guardian has posted its five-star rave, calling the game “the most polished FPS of the year” and “exactly what fans were expecting.” In particular, the review praises Modern Warfare 2’s superior AI and balanced weaponry.
Another early COD:MW2 review comes from The HD Room, which says that despite an occasionally frustrating single-player campaign, Modern Warfare 2 is the current game of the year frontrunner, aided by jaw-dropping graphics and presentation. So, now that you’re thoroughly enticed, consider that GameStop has blatantly broken its street date in several markets, including Bowie, Md., Bowling Green, Ohio, Reading, Pa., and New York City. GameStop told Kotaku that other retailers were doing the same, and the decision was made after extensive conversations with Activision. If you do find an early copy, know this: The PC version won’t actually be playable until tomorrow anyway. Those poor gamers can’t get a break.
