wctmstadiumevents Watch Out for Stadium Events Scammers

Judging from some comments in our coverage of Stadium Events being sold for $13,000 on eBay, it seems that not everyone got the message that Stadium Events’s North American NTSC version is an extremely rare Nintendo Entertainment System game. It is not to be confused with World Class Track Meet or even the PAL version of Stadium Events. Unfortunately, some jerk is trying to cash in on the hysteria by selling a plain old version of World Class Track Meet on eBay, with an asking price of $9,000. This seller is sort of lying about the game — calling it “World Class Track Meet” with “Stadium Events Mat” (more likely, the Power Pad) — and the high asking price implies that the game is rare, when it’s not. Listen, if you’re not already a collector of rare video games, now is not the time to start. Easy money is just as hard to find as an actual copy of Stadium events. [eBay via AtariAge]
