Walkthrough Wednesday: Monster Hunter Tri Hints and Tips
By Benjamin Opal
To be perfectly honest, Monster Hunter Tri, which shipped to North America yesterday, seems completely foreign, but after gathering materials for this walkthrough guide, I’m interested in checking it out. Says Capcom, the game “depicts a living, breathing ecosystem where players hunt fantastic beasts that roam both land and sea for the economic prosperity of their newly adopted village.” Plus you get a Wii Classic Controller Pro bundled with the $60 game. Anyhow, onto the Monster Hunter Tri hints and tips: The first thing you’ll want to do is check out this YouTube video, which will help you through the first 10 minutes of the game following the prologue.
Once you’re up and running, consult the extensive gathering guide on GameFAQs, which will help you sniff out all sorts of items. Only the first map, Deserted Island, is complete now, but there’s lots to find on that map alone. GameFAQs also has plenty of other help-related pages for Monster Hunter Tri, no doubt aided by the fact that the game launched in Japan last August. You’ll also find some valuable information in Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri forums. For instance, here’s a list of “things you learned from Monster Hunter,” which is part silly musings (“Sometimes you need special shirts, gloves, belts and pants in addition to headgear in order to protect your hearing.”) and part random hints (“You can easily recover from being drunk by using any of your emotes.”). Good hunting!
