Walkthrough Wednesday: Killzone 3
By Justin Massoud
“Blockbuster” — a term typically reserved for Hollywood’s big-budget summertime offerings can now be easily applied to many video games. Love it or hate it, this is a direction many developers have chosen to trod. Sony’s PlayStation exclusive “Killzone” franchise easily falls under the controversial category, boasting high production values, cutting-edge graphics and giant guns.
The latest entry in the series, “Killzone 3,” is out now and offers multiple game modes, including its unique spin on the now-standard multiplayer component that breeds friends and enemies in equal measure.
We’ve compiled helpful strategies from around the internet for gamers that prefer to socially frag as well as their more solo-minded counterparts. The following guides and walkthroughs will prove beneficial no matter which category you belong to: single-player commando or online team player.
GameFront produced a very friendly walkthrough for the single-player campaign that includes the occasional video. While a helpful addition, the step-by-step written guide should be enough. Tips for earning trophies are also included within the text – perfect for Achievement whores’ distant cousins.
Speaking of trophies, you’ll find a complete list here via videogamesblogger. Now, unlocking them all is another story altogether. Thankfully, NextGenTactics posted videos detailing how to unlock some of the more challenging trophies. Here’s one for “Spread the Love.”
On the multiplayer side, IGN went straight to the source for tips on killing people online. A developer from Guerrilla Games shared strategies based on both map and your in-game combat role. If you can’t get any kills after hearing it from the horse’s mouth, it might be worth checking out the game’s offline “bot” mode to get your bearings. It gives you a taste of what the online modes offer, minus that angry guy on your team screaming at you for constantly dying.
Feel free to share your own personal tips and tricks in the comment section. If you found this round-up helpful, we do it every Wednesday. Here are some recent entries:
