VVVVVV De-made as an Abbreviated VVVV
By Jared Newman
Fancy that the Commodore 64 stylings of Terry Cavanaugh’s VVVVVV aren’t simple enough? An adoring fan, Markus Persson, has boiled the game down to its even more bare essentials, and the result is VVVV. Persson designed the game, with Cavanaugh’s permission, as part of Java4K 2010, a competition to create Java games under 4 KB in size. The game’s graphics are even more minimal than they were before, and there’s no sound, though you can purchase Magnus “Souleye” Pålsson’s soundtrack, entitled “PPPPPP,” for $4 and play it in the background. I still miss those sound effects though, and you can’t flip gravity mid-air, but can you really argue with a free tribute? Check out VVVV here, and the demo for VVVVVV here. Should you like to purchase the full game of VVVVVV, that’s here. Happy platforming! [via GameSetWatch]

"The game’s graphics are even less minimal than they were before"
Shouldn't it be "more minimal"?

Ah, yes.

By the way, you couldn’t flip mid-air in the original game. That would have made it easier, but less sense.
