Ubisoft: Our DRM Won’t Piss You Off! Oh?

It seems fitting to post this piracy flowchart (via PixelatedGeek), in light of Ubisoft’s latest attempt to crack down on illegal downloads of its PC games. To recap, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Settlers VII will be Ubisoft’s first crack at a new kind of DRM, requiring constant online authentication in order to play, even for single-player games. If you’re playing Assassin’s Creed 2 and your Internet connection drops for any reason, you get booted out of the game and all progress since the last save point is lost. Settlers VII lets you pick up where you left off, but it won’t let you play without an Internet connection.
“We wouldn’t have built it if we thought that it was really going to piss off our customers,” Ubisoft told PC Gamer. They argue that the DRM is a net positive because you can store saved games online, no disc is necessary and you can install the game on as many PCs as you like. But guess what? Two of those things are also true for pirated versions of the game, and while you can’t store games online without Ubisoft’s servers, that’s a small price to pay for the ability to play wherever you want, regardless of whether there’s an Internet connection, or whether Ubisoft’s servers happen to be running smoothly. So while that flowchart is intended for movies, it translates perfectly into the hassles PC Gamers face just for doing the right thing. [via PC Gamer and PixelatedGeek]

Wait just a minute,how the F___K do UBISOFT know that their new DRM would'nt piss me off..Did they ask me,or did they even think about asking me.I don't Bloody think so.I've been buying and playing games since way before PC's started to appear(63Yrs old now)My favoured gaming platform now is the PC,and has been since Windows 95..I have quite a few Ubisoft titles in my collection,but they can be assured I won't be buying any more if this is their plan.They crap on about piracy as though it was something new,and that its going to destroy the gaming industry.Well Ubisoft, EA and the rest of them are still puting out PC Games,so they still must be making money.Your right we should all vote with our pockets and refuse to buy their products.Not just the PC squad but all GAMERS(XBOX-PS3etc).It's like they've got all the hoops and we do all the jumping.At the end of the day we hold all the buying power and maybe its time to make a stand.Anyway who the F___ wants to be online playing a single player game and then safe it online as well . That's total Bullshit and they know it.The only reason they want you online is so they can snoop into your PC.I can buy a copy of Windows7 and then activate online or by a phone call,where's the problem.It's do what we say or you don't play our game,well guess what, I won't play your game or any other that uses this sort of DRM. To Ubisoft I say ,you get no more of my money,because it seems as if loyalty does'nt count anymore.To all gamers,their takin the piss out of us.

I’ve bought two games from Ubisoft. James Camerons Avatar and Assassins Creed 2. After the incident of buying Assassins Creed 2, Ubisoft is on my ingnore/download list. No more games will be bought from them, that’s for sure…
