Two Resident Evil Games Getting the Hi-Def Treatment
By Joseph Oliveto
The Resident Evil franchise may not be as exciting as it used to be, but it has still provided gamers with some fairly entertaining titles in recent years, and it is probably still fair to say that it’s the reigning champion of the survival horror genre. Sadly, G4 has the news regarding the latest releases in the series, and the developers won’t be giving us anything new.
Literally. While the status of a sixth Reisdent Evil remains up in the air, Capcom is instead working on converting Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica to the HD format and releasing them together in one package. Nothing like seeing your brains get devoured in perfect picture quality, right?
Right off the bat, we should let you know that at the moment, Capcom has only planned to release this bundle in Japan, but it’s probably safe to assume that it will eventually be available in America as well. A Playstation 3 and XBox 360 version will be produced, so if this does come to the States, it’s likely that anyone interested in these games will have the proper console to play them on.
While there’s nothing wrong with making a popular title prettier for today’s gamers, what we really want is a new entry in the series. This might keep us happy for now, but we do hope that this franchise continues to move forward.
Would you want a new Resident Evil game, or are you done with the series?
