Twilight: Eclipse Goes 8-Bit, Choose Your Adventure-Style

By

As a 27 year-old married dude, the angsty teen vampire genre didn’t really speak to me until now, with this Twilight: Eclipse 8-bit game. You can play the whole thing right from the above YouTube clip, as it’s just a series of cutscenes with a set of choices at the end of each video. The game was created for The Station by Benny and Rafi Fine, with animation and music by Doctor Octoroc. What really sells the Twilight: Eclipse game, aside from the NES-style graphics and fake RPG battles, are the subtle jabs at the ridiculousness of this franchise.

Indeed, the game pokes fun at how actress Rachelle Lefevre was replaced for the third film because she took 10 days off to appear in an indie movie. And in boiling down the plot down to its bare essentials — random girl must choose between vampire and werewolf, while balancing their feelings so they can both protect her from evil — the whole thing seems kind of silly, as a movie at least. As a game, it’s pure gold. [via Kotaku]
