Today in Video Game Arts and Crafts
By Jared Newman
Impressed as I was by the Nintendo DS toast, the Snatcher pillow and a boatload of video game papercraft, I couldn’t quite say they were all worth an individual news item. It only seems fair to roll them up into one big video game arts and crafts Frankenstory. Who knows? Maybe it’s a recurring feature in the making. There’s a gallery of three if you’re reading past the jump.
The above-pictured toast is of unknown origin, and we have no other details, but it is presumably delicious. Then, there’s the Snatcher pillow, which took a year and a half to complete, and consists of more than 26,000 individual stitches. Snatcher is an early work of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, and while I wouldn’t recommend the gameplay itself, the atmosphere kills and the plot provides fascinating insight on the formation of Kojima as auteur. Finally, the Kartel brings us a collection of video game papercraft pulled from the appropriately-named NintendoPaperCraft.com. You can even make your own, but given the time I’d rather craft myself some toast. Mmm. [via TinyCartridge and The Kartel and GameCulture]
