Well, someone had to ask whether Electronic Arts would stop supporting Tiger Woods after news of a sex scandal became one of this week’s top stories. GamesIndustry.biz got the answer, and EA says its behind the troubled pro golfer. “Our strong relationship with Tiger for more than a decade remains unchanged,” the publisher said in a statement. “We respect Tiger’s privacy, we wish him a fast recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on the golf course.”

Woods’ private life came under scrutiny last Friday, when he got in a car accident outside his home in Florida. A gossip magazine claimed he’d been having an affair with a New York nightclub hostess, and claims of other affairs have surfaced as well. Woods hasn’t addressed the reports specifically, but apologized for “transgressions” in a statement on his Web site. “I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves,” he wrote, asking for privacy as he deals with the situation behind closed doors with his family.

Tiger Woods’ name has graced EA’s golf game series since 1998, having appeared in 14 games across 11 consoles, plus computers and the iPhone. The Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, released in June, was the fourth best-selling game in North America that month according to The NPD Group. [via GamesIndustry.biz]
