Here’s JJ Dasher’s modified Kodak DC290 camera. But can it play Doom? Oh yes. The DC290 runs an OS called Digita, which is somehow capable of running apps, games, the MAME arcade emulator and id Software’s hellish first-person shooter. Only problem was the crappy controls built into the camera. So when JJ’s lens broke, he started clearing out all the guts of the DC290 that weren’t vital to running Digita. Eventually he had enough room to cram in basic keyboard controls for Doom, and the DoomBox was born. Sure, you won’t be able to strafe, so playing on Nightmare difficulty’s out of the question, but I bet MAME games are a blast on here as well. Here’s a video. Now to find an old DC290 on eBay.
