StarCraft 2 Mods Go Tetris, Mario Kart and More
By Benjamin OpalEver wonder why PC gamers have such scorn for the console-loving masses? Just look at some of the crazy mods people are making with the StarCraft 2 beta. Ars Technica has rounded up six of its favorite StarCraft 2 mods, including a Tetris clone (above) and a Mario Kart-style racer. So while the console set is flipping out over the supposedly boundless creativity to be offered in LittleBigPlanet 2 for Playstation 3, StarCraft 2 modders are already creating plenty of games-within-a-game.
The question is how easy or difficult LBP2′s level creator will be to learn compared to StarCraft 2′s Galaxy Editor. Neither editor requires coding knowledge, though each will require you to get familiar with the toolset. Tetris for SC2 was, apparently, quite complicated to create, and I imagine LBP2 will have its share of custom games that seems simple but are crazy under the hood.
Anyhow, a couple more of my favorite mods are below, including a bullet hell shooter and a top-down racing game that reminds me of Super Off-Road. Be sure to check out the first-person demo and the Diablo interface as well. [via Ars Technica]
