Square Enix Embraces Potty Language With Nier

Nier is a typical sword-wielding, magic-casting button masher, unless you’re into shamelessly dirty language, in which case Nier is something special. The hands-off demo at GamesCom has the protagonist’s sidekick, Kaine, spouting off some truly foul stuff, which I’m not even sure would fly on our family-friendly blog. Okay fine, one of the lines reported by Kotaku is this: “I’ll rip your dick off and feed it to your kids!” Touching. This language apparently serves Square Enix’s need to expand beyond the role-playing games for which it’s known, but is it really necessary to offend everyone within earshot?
