Spider-Man: The Edge of Time Teaser Trailer is ReleasedBy Joseph Oliveto
Spider-Man: The Edge of Time will be the next game featuring everyone’s favorite web-slinger according to MTV, and today, April 4, we’ve got a brief teaser trailer to get us excited for what’s to come. The last Spidey game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, was a surprisingly solid title. With the same developer behind this project, could we be in for another video game that defies the standard “games based on movies/comics/cartoons always suck” belief? Read on, take a look at the trailer, and tell us what you think…
Honestly, we weren’t too impressed with the trailer, but it is only a teaser, so we couldn’t expect to be blown away by a little more than a minute’s worth of footage.
Graphics-wise, the game will look like most other titles featuring superheroes; in other words, if you’re expecting a game that looks like Crysis 2, you’ll be disappointed. The brief glances we got at the gameplay itself suggest that we’re not in for anything very new in that arena, either–a lot of kicking, jumping, etc.
What may make or break this game is the story, and we feel that this is an element that will polarize gamers. It looks like they’re going a strictly sci-fi route for this one, and while that isn’t a bad thing–Spider-Man is, essentially, a sci-fi character–some players may want the opportunity to explore a more realistic environment. It doesn’t look like they’ll get that chance this time around.
Long story short, when we head to the store this fall to purchase a game based on a comic book character, we expect we’ll be much more interested in Batman: Arkham City. Take a look at the gameplay trailer for that one, and tell us what looks more impressive.
What’s your take on this trailer? Does it show us enough for us to make a fair judgment one way or the other?
