SONY: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2011: The 3D Experience downloaded 83,000 times on PSN
By Rothtana OuchThose numbers are precisely why Sony’s Corporate Communications Manager JT Tidwell is stoked about the future of 3D on PS3. Not only is the PS3 the leader in 3D digital downloads of Sports Illustrated, but the system will have a remarkable number of titles in 3D for 2011.
For the uninitiated you will first need a capable 3D TV and a PS3 to take advantage of the inter-dimensional glories of 3D gaming and movies.
“Nearly 30 stereoscopic 3D titles that will be available on the PS3 by the end of 2011,” said Tidwell on the PlayStation blog. “Including favorites such as UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, among many others.”
Recently released Crysis 2 for PS3 can do 3D as well. Tidwell also reminds us TRON: Legacy will also be available on 3D. We’re not entirely sold on 3D in movies, but for Killzone 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops, 3D might just be the perfect way to play. According to Tidwell’s post, 20% of the downloads for Killzone 3’s single-player campaign demo was for the 3D version. Those figures are impressive. With more players beginning to play games on 3D, more titles will be developed with 3D gaming in mind. Good news for us.
Currently some available 3D games include: Enslaved: Journey to the West, Gran Turismo 5 and The Sly Collection. A complete list can be found on the PlayStation blog.
What do you think? Are you gaming in 3D?
