Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City in Development
By Joseph Oliveto
Recently, we reported that two popular Resident Evil games will be getting the HD treatment while we wait to see if a sixth installment of the series will be coming our way anytime soon. While that bit of information remains unknown, thanks to G4 we at least know that the multiplayer game Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is in the works.
It’s better than nothing, right?
According to the article, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which will be available for PlayStation 3 and XBox 360, takes place in 1998 and consists of four characters–Vector, Beltway, Spectre, and Bertha–fighting off the familiar undead foes while using teamwork to keep each other alive. Each different character will specialize in a specific skill set, and each will be integral to the overall success of the gamers.
Well, that sounds like it has potential. Part of the fun of the original Resident Evil game was playing as a solo character stranded in a gigantic mansion and fighting wave after wave of lurching zombies, but a multiplayer take on the formula could be interesting as well. Worst case scenario, you’ll at least have more people to be scared with when the zombies attack.
Will you be buying this game, or would you rather wait to hear about a sixth installment in the series?
