Report: New Call of Duty To Be Announced in April

It’s not every day that we look up and see a new Call of Duty title announced. This might please some of you who are tired of playing Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops. Those games are so last year and the year before. Earlier today, PSM3 reported by way of CVG, “the next in Activision’s megaton FPS series will be announced in mid-April.”

The rumor comes from an undisclosed industry source which nails the plot down with links to Modern Warfare 2. If the rumors are true, the next Modern Warfare game will concern itself with Ghost. Fans of MW2 will recall Ghost as being the masked comrade-in-arms who wore a kick-ass skull mask, not to be confused with a kick-ass ski-mask.
PSM3 magazine also said, “Based on the ending of MW2, we’d be surprised if the story doesn’t pick up with Soap and Price on the run, after they were set up by General Shepherd.”
It would be surprising to release a game focused on Ghost, after all [spoiler] he’s dead.
Whatever the case, this will be another Call of Duty title that continues the tradition of annual releases of the Call of Duty franchise. In 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, 2008 saw the release of COD: World at War, COD: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 and COD: Black Ops in 2010. Activision is sure becoming a trend setter in releasing annual games. COD:Black Ops remains one of the best selling games of all time.
If a MW2 sequel happens, it will easily topple Battlefield 3, at least it’s what an analyst said.
Who else thinks this COD is just a fad? Uh, cause we don’t.

I think they need to hurry up and release details on Modern Warfare 3. Hopefully we get a trailer and this game is TONS better than the crap they put out called Black Ops. I read this interesting article on a Modern Warfare 3 fan site http://mwarfare3.com/ and they were talking about if MW3 can remain the top FPS. I think it’s possible, I always enjoyed the Modern Warfare 3 titles as they seem to have better gameplay as compared to the “Call of Duty” titles. The franchise has taken a huge step back with the previous two games released, and I think with the competition stepping up that Activision will make sure this is a great game. They also said the game will be out on November 11, which is interesting. Are there any other MW3 sites out there with new information on the game? That was the only one I can find that has news on modern warfare 3 consistently and provides new info.
