We’re right in the thick of holiday gaming with this week’s release of Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 and more. There was a bit of a fit last night, when Left 4 Dead 2′s release time of midnight Eastern for the PC version was pushed back roughly an hour, but it’s all good now. Clear out the day, grab a few friends and start thinning out the never-ending hordes of zombies in your mad-dash attempts to escape infection. The game’s out for Xbox 360, and has new weapons, new enemies and a bit more of a story arc than the the first Left 4 Dead, which felt a bit loose.

Also out today is Assassin’s Creed 2 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, which features a new protagonist named Ezio taking down targets in Italy. Hopefully it’ll be less repetitive than the last game, adding day and night cycles and an economic system that lets Ezio hire some help. Oh, and Leonardo Di Vinci apparently makes an appearance. Other games to watch out for this week: NCAA Basketball 2010 (PS3 and Xbox 360), Lego Indiana Jones 2 (all consoles and handhelds except the PS2), Tony Hawk Ride (PS3 and Xbox 360) and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for the Wii.
