kmart ps3 Confirmed: PS3 Slim is $300, On Sale in September

At last, the Playstation 3 Slim is real, and as expected it’s lighter and cheaper than its predecessor. At the tail end of Sony’s press event at GamesCom, the company announced the totally unsurprising news, liveblogged minutes ago by Kotaku. The PS3 Slim will cost $299, sporting a 120 GB hard drive, measuring 33 percent smaller and weighing 36 percent less than the existing console. If there’s anything else to know about the PS3 Slim, it wasn’t revealed today. Sony didn’t provide a firm release date, as it will vary by region, but the console will be available in all regions by the first week of September (unconfirmed reports have an August 24 U.S. release date). In the meantime, the big boxy Playstation 3 will also be sold for $300, just in case you can’t wait. I can. via [Kotaku, Image]
