PS3 Slim Backwards Compatibility? Forget it.

Just because one of our Playstation 3 dreams came true at Sony’s GamesCom press event doesn’t mean the rest will follow. In a an interview with Ars Technica, Sony hardware marketing director John Koller said backwards compatibility with Playstation 2 games is “not coming back, so let me put that on the table.” He added, “It’s not as big as a purchase intent driver as you may be hearing.” Koller’s probably right. After all, most people who are buying a Playstation 3 now kissed the idea of backwards compatibility goodbye a long time ago, when Sony officially swore it off. It’s only the people who believed Sony’s original plan that got screwed. [via Ars Technica]
