Portal’s “Still Alive” Ending Theme On an Exercise Machine
By Jared NewmanWay too much spare time and just enough devotion to Portal led YouTube user evi1wombat to recreate the entire Portal ending credits theme, “Still Alive,” on an exercise machine. There’s no backing tracks or actual vocals, just the distinct melody set to the high-pitched beeps of a dsPIC30F4011 board, stuffed into an old Cybex ClimbMax stair stepper. Like the actual ending theme, the lyrics are typed starkly along the top, and there’s even some Portal-related imagery in the middle to keep things moving. Apparently, the project took three days total to replace the CPU, write the drivers and engine and prepare all the data. “I was very bored,” evi1wombat writes.
