Please Explain The Japanese Video Game in American Dad
By Benjamin OpalGiven that the television depiction of video games rarely evolves past Pac Man sound effects, despite decades of advancements, at least this clip from last night’s episode of American Dad moves in a new direction. There’s a pink rabbit leaping over a crow, grabbing a piece of sushi and using newfound powers to kill another grow with a fireball. He then disappears through the ground and hits a child with another fireball, causing a bowl of rice to appear as the rabbit exclaims “Yummy yummy!” in a Japanese accent. Also, the soundtrack vaguely reminds me of Wrecking Crew. The kids, of course, have no idea what’s going on, but I’d play this. WiiWare version, please? [Hulu via Press the Buttons]
