Hold It! Phoenix Wright to Litigate on the iPhone
By Jared Newman

From the department of wise decisions (and, technically, Famitsu) comes word that the Phoenix Wright series will come to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Good call. The entirety of the Nintendo DS series is spent tapping on a touch screen, so this well-received wacky lawyer drama will be a perfect fit on Apple’s devices. Only the first game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, is planned for release on the iPhone, but the sequels and spin-offs (there are four of them) could follow. There’s no word yet on pricing or actual release dates. This is great news for iPhone gamers, but it spells trouble for Nintendo.
Phoenix Wright is not on Wikipedia’s list of best-selling Nintendo DS games, but it’s a prestige title that up until now brought something unique to the Nintendo DS. It’s certainly a game I’d recommend to anyone who bought the handheld. As for best-sellers, a lot of them are brain trainer games such as Brain Age, but that series has been duplicated on the iPhone as well. Of course, the Nintendo DS isn’t being threatened. It still sells like crazy, but when when you can get some of its best and most unique experiences elsewhere, that could be a problem in the long term. I’ve already stopped carrying my DS around on most trips because the iPhone is adequate enough for gaming. Games like Phoenix Wright only make that decision easier. [via MTV Multiplayer]
