New Super Mario Bros. Wii “Super Guide” Details Revealed
By Jared Newman
If you’re terrible enough at video games, New Super Mario Bros. Wii will indeed play itself for you. The game’s demo mode, kind code, auto-play or whatever you want to call it, has been known about for some time, but never officially detailed until now. Kotaku saw the mode in action, officially called the “Super Guide,” showing how the game switches to auto-pilot for struggling players. A couple conditions: The Super Guide only works in single-player games, and won’t switch on until you’ve died eight times in a level (so you’ll have to burn through all your allotted five lives, then die some more after continuing). Once the conditions are met, Mario can pop a green box at the beginning of the stage, and a computer-controlled Luigi will take over. Players can pick up the level as Luigi at any time, and there are no penalties for using this mode — only the taunts of passersby who recognize your lack of skills. [via Kotaku]
