More Mass Effect Games on the Way?
By Joseph Oliveto
Mass Effect has proven itself to be an engaging and unique franchise that has provided gamers with plenty of entertainment, but for most of us, it seemed to be common knowledge that the upcoming third entry would mark the end point for the series. However, that may not precisely be the case; Computer and Video Games reports that the good people over at Bioware have been pondering what directions they could take the games in the future.
It’s not over just yet, folks.
In an interview with Game Informer magazine, BioWare co-founder Dr. Greg Zeschuk had the following to say:
“We’re pretty big. We have lots of teams. Lots of possibilities. Even though we will effectively finish the trilogy, it’s not like it’s over in the sense of ‘Hey, we’re going to put the Mass Effect world on the shelf forever and never come back to it.’ We’ve already been thinking about that.”
That’s a little vague, but it does indicate that there’s still room left to explore the universe of these games, even if the third installment ties up the main trilogy. Sure, the last time we got a title in this franchise that wasn’t connected to the central storyline, it was a fairly disappointing iOS game, but we doubt that’s what Zeschuk has in mind for the future of the Mass Effect series.
Honestly, we feel like there’s certainly room to expand on what we’ve already seen and take advantage of the world that the developers of these games have set up. So long as they are as enjoyable as the other Mass Effect titles, we’d have no problems embracing some more entries in the series.
Do you think they should stop at three, or would you like more Mass Effect games?
