Modern Warfare 2 Javelin Glitch: The Fix is Here
By Jared Newman
Ease your troubled minds, Modern Warfare 2 players, as a fix for the so-called “Javelin Glitch” was scheduled to go live for the Xbox 360 this morning. I’m rocking the Playstation 3 version of the game, which was already fixed, so I can’t check to see if the Xbox 360 version is up and running, but Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb said the javelin fix goes live “early Friday morning (PT.),” which is right about now. The Javelin Glitch, named for the way it’s activated with rocket-based weapons, let players automatically drop a grenade upon dying, while still allowing them to knife, sprint or jump. It’s essentially the Martyrdom perk, but without the requirements of a 27 skill level and four deaths in a row.
While Sony let the Javelin Glitch slide until the patch arrived, Microsoft was handing out 24-hour bans to players caught using the exploit. Our last post on the Javelin Glitch sparked some good debate on whether Microsoft should be allowed to kick people who aren’t cheating, per se, but are exploiting a flaw in Modern Warfare 2′s code at the expense of other players. My take? Regardless of whether Microsoft allowed the glitch or not, players should fight with some honor and respect. Shame on you if you can’t win by legitimate means. [Twitter via Kotaku]

"It’s essentially the Martyrdom perk, but without the requirements of a 27 skill level and four deaths in a row." Yeah, if martyrdom was dropping a tactical nuke when you die instead of a grenade. Martyrdom = about 5 foot kill radius; Javelindom = about 150 foot kill radius.

youre missing the point, nobody uses the javelin glitch because it helps them win… people use it because its hilarious
