Microsoft: Pay No Mind to the 54.6% Xbox 360 Failure Rate
By Jared Newman
I initially had my doubts about the Xbox 360′s reported 54.6 percent failure rate, as determined by Game Informer’s survey of 5,000 readers, but Microsoft has less to say about the report than that. In a statement to TG Daily, the company makes no attempt to verify or dispute the claim, preferring instead to move on to the positives. “Microsoft stands behind the Xbox 360 as a superior entertainment console with one of the best warranties in the industry,” a company representative said. “We are constantly improving the design, manufacture and performance of the console through extensive testing of potential sources of any problems.” For what it’s worth, Microsoft has previously desputed a warranty firm’s claim of 16.4 percent for the original console. As someone who’s Xbox 360 got the Red Ring of Death last week, after 3 years of use, I wonder of the number has crept up since then anyway. [TG Daily via Kotaku]
