Microsoft Game Room Launches Today, Games List Here
By Benjamin Opal
Microsoft Game Room, a virtual arcade full of classic video games, launches today for Xbox 360, but it’s having a little trouble getting off the ground. You can still download the arcade software, but you’ll apparently run into a loading screen that never goes away. I’ve seen conflicting reports on whether the issue is fixed (commenters on Reddit and Joystiq say so, but the Twitter feed of Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, which supposedly confirms the fix, says nothing). In any case, here’s a temporary workaround: Disconnect from Xbox Live, load up Game Room, then reconnect. You still won’t be able to purchase games, but you can play some demos on a time limit, which should tell you whether it’s even worthwhile to wait around for a fix.
Bugs aside, here’s the list of games that will launch with Microsoft Game Room, which you’ll have to buy, of course:
Adventure
Armor Battle
Asteroids Deluxe
Astrosmash
Centipede
Battlantis
Crystal Castles
Gravitar
Lunar Lander
Red Baron
Combat
Finalizer
Football
Tempest
Jungler
Millipede
Outlaw
Road Fighter
Realsports Tennis
Sea Battle
Scramble
Skiing, Mountain Madness/Super Pro
Space Armada
Space Hawk
Shao-lin’s Road (Kicker)
Star Raiders
Super Cobra
Sub Hunt
Tutankham
Yar’s Revenge

We'll see, but right now the only publishers who have arcade games in the Game Room are Atari and Konami. You'd need Namco on board to get a Pac-Man port. We'll see.
