Medal of Honor to Feature Two Campaign Styles
Jan 06, 2010 - By Lawrence SonntagA preview on The LostGamer reveals that Electronic Arts’ upcoming Medal of Honor reboot will feature two campaign styles in the single-player mode.
While EA has already revealed that part of the game will take place with the Tier 1 Operatives in Afganistan involving secretive special-ops ’scalpel’ type missions, another section of the game will place players in more ’sledgehammer’ generic military roles. These missions will be larger in scale, featuring wide-open battlefields instead of the smaller-scale Tier 1 operations.
Amusingly enough, this more indication that Medal of Honor is adhering to the formula set by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. Both games from Infinity Ward feature typical army/marine grunts that go around smashing things up, and expertly trained special ops dudes that sneak around fixing all their messes.
The preview also highlights the authenticity of the upcoming modern day shooter. EA is reportedly working with actual operatives (whose identities can’t be revealed for obvious reasons). These operatives have complete oversight and veto power over the games content, including things like weapon handling, behavior, and most importantly, dialogue. Hopefully this will prevent Medal of Honor from becoming an oscar mikeathon.
Authenticity is all well and good, but until they make a game about repairing jeeps and sitting around all day, they can’t really claim an authentic experience without qualification.
