Mass Effect’s Star Voice Actors: Martin Sheen, Seth Green, More
By Benjamin Opal
Bioware loves the slow drip of Mass Effect 2 details, but the latest bite is fairly substantial. It turns out that ME2 will have a good share of celebrity voice talent, including Martin Sheen, who played Captain Willard in Apocalypse Now and President Josiah Bartlett in the TV series The West Wing. According to USA Today, Sheen will play “the mysterious Illusive Man who commands Cerberus, a secretive paramilitary organization dedicated to protecting human interests in the galaxy.” You’ll recall that in the first game, Cerberus was a former Alliance black ops group that went rogue, and essentially became a pro-human terrorist organization. I had fun taking them down through non-confrontational means.
Seth Green (Austin Powers, Robot Chicken), meanwhile, will reprise his role as Jeff “Joker” Moreau, ace pilot of the SSV Normandy. Other voice actors in Mass Effect 2 include Shohreh Aghdashloo (24, Flash Forward), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Memento) and Chuck actors Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin. “Emotionally engaging narrative is a key design pillar for BioWare, and the top-notch voice talent in Mass Effect 2 helps drive this goal,” Bioware co-founder Ray Muzyka said in a statement. According to the Los Angeles Times, Mass Effect 2 will have roughly 31,000 lines of dialogue from 90 actors playing 546 characters. The game’s out for Windows and Xbox 360 on January 26.
