Mass Effect 2 is BAFTA’s Best Game
By Joseph Oliveto
Mass Effect 2 has already won the admiration fo fans and critics alike, but as of this week it can add yet another honor to its long list of accolades: as G4 reports, the title recently won the Best Game award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Looks like they have good taste.
Mass Effect 2 has earned praise by balancing in-depth storytelling with the pure fun of well-designed gameplay. It’s the kind of game that respects the medium as an art, and not merely a recreational activity.
This kind of recognition adds to the already superb reputation of the franchise, and makes us even more excited for the eventual release of Mass Effect 3, which is currently in development and should be released later this year.
Other popular games honored by BAFTA were God of War III for Artistic Achievement and Assasin’s Creed Brotherhood for Action. We certainly can’t argue with that evaluation, although as our readers, you may have some opinions of your own on that matter.
We’re glad to see a worthy game get the honors it deserves, although in the gaming community it seems like most of us just play whatever we like, regardless of whether or not it won an award.
Are you pleased with BAFTA’s decision, or do you think another game was worthy of the award?
