Poor GameFly. First, the U.S. Postal service Allegedly treats their video game mailers unfairly compared to mail-order DVD services such as Netflix, and now a former Postal Service mail handler admits to stealing 2,200 games from the Philadelphia area. Reginald Johnson, 34, faces 12 to 18 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to the theft. Prosecutors say that a surveillance operation caught Johnson snatching $86,000 worth in games from April to September 2008. The day authorities tried to arrest Johnson, he sped off in his SUV and had an accident, then fled with a duffel bag stuffed with games from GameFly. Authorities also found copies of Wii Sports, three Wii Fit Balance Boards, a Playstation console, controllers and receipts from GameStop. It’s insinuated, but not alleged, in a Philadelphia Daily News article that Johnson may have been pawning off his haul to GameStop in exchange for store credit. Hey, if that’s true, at least he was investing his criminal activity right back into video games. [Philly.com via Gamespot]
