Jack Thompson Sues Facebook Over Group Threats

Just because Jack Thompson was disbarred doesn’t mean he can’t sue Facebook for $120 million. Arguably the most antagonistic figure in video gaming, Thompson claims that his crusades against violent video games have drawn the ire of gamers the world over, thus resulting in Facebook groups that called for his physical harm, such as “Jack Thompson should be smacked across the face with an Atari 2600″ and “I will pay$50 to anyone who punches Jack Thompson in the face.”  Thompson claims that two faxes, marked urgent, were sent to Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, but were promptly ignored. The lawsuit then goes into vintage Thompson screeds, such as a description of the games industry as “corporate predators who mentally molest minors for money” and examples of death threats sent to Thompson’s home. I wish we could all just ignore Thompson and stop giving him fodder for lawsuits, but frankly he’s just too darned entertaining. [via The Register, Lawsuit here]
