In Boss Rush, You’re Finally the Big Ship

Ever played a shoot-em-up and noticed how unfair it is that the boss ships get huge, bullet-spraying weapons and can take massive damage, while one hit detonates your puny little ship? Boss Rush, a free Flash game,  gives you a chance to see how the other half lives. You’re the commander of one of several massive vessels, staring down the screen at a puny, but nimble space ship.

You only have to hit the enemy once with any of your powerful weapons to blow it up, but of course, that little ship can quickly zip around your bullets, it can collect power-ups and it has quite a few spare lives. You, on the other hand, only live once, and you’ll lose powers as that little ship’s machine guns flake away the layers of your battle cruiser. There are some nice flourishes here, like the burst of desperately high-powered weapons that become available just before your ship gets wrecked, but you needn’t play the game for more than a few minutes to get the joke.
