Handyduo is a Portable NES and SNES in One
By Jared Newman
Sometimes, 16 bit is just right, but other times it’s 8 bits too many. Fortunately there’s the Handyduo, a homemade handheld that play original Nintendo and Super Nintendo games in one package. Modder LovableChevy took inspiration (and parts) from the Retro Duo, a home console that has NES and SNES slots. Then she added the screen from a PSOne player — a must in any handheld modder’s arsenal — and put it all inside a ZN-40 stackable electronic instrument case.
The final product measures roughly 2.6 inches thick and 5.9 inches tall without a SNES cartridge peeking over the top. It weighs 2.25 pounds with no cartridges inserted. That’s a bit bulky, sure, but probably on account of the dual 4,250 mAh batteries. No word on battery life, but I’m sure it’s good for a few hours at least. Unfortunatley, the Handyduo is not for sale, but you can learn how to make one by visiting the Ben Heck forums. [via Technabob]
