Halo: Reach Screenshots Appear, Video Hints at “Murder Mode”
By Jared NewmanOkay, so the last round of Halo: Reach screenshots were suspect, but when a batch appears briefly on EBGames’ Web site, you know they’re legit. On the sketchier side, there’s also a freshly leaked video, apparently of the Halo: Reach beta, that shows very little but hints at a “Murder Mode” for stealthily killing enemies.
The Halo: Reach screenshots are the same ones that appeared in Game Informer’s recent cover story. Nothing’s shot from the first-person; it’s all action shots of the Noble Team as they face off against the Covenant. You’ll see Elites with shields aglow, Covenant drop ships in bound, and even a civilian vehicle, which players can control in the game.
The video, meanwhile, doesn’t show any gameplay but suggests that the Halo: Reach beta will include both single player and multiplayer action. It also instructs the player to press right on the D-Pad and activate “Murder Mode,” apparently some way to kill enemies without being spotted. A hand hastily covers the camera before the action begins, and a robotic female voice speaks of lost communications with orbital stations and ground communication being interrupted.
If you want to join the Halo: Reach beta, which should arrive in the spring, the only confirmed method is a copy of Halo 3: ODST. [XCast Online and Xbox Evolved via GamersThrone]
