Guitar Hero 6 Could Have Project Natal Gracenotes
Nov 27, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Could Project Natal be the perk that music games need to get back on top of the charts? We may find out next year if the makers of Guitar Hero 6 integrate Microsoft’s motion-sensing camera. “We haven’t made any specific announcements of what we’re doing with new technologies in “Guitar Hero 6″ and beyond,” Guitar Hero founder Kai Huang told the Seattle Times, “but one of the areas we’re exploring certainly is camera technology and what you can do — track your movements and maybe have your characters on the screen do certain things you’re doing, or personalize it more so it can look more like you on stage rather than just be an avatar.
I’ll say right now that being able to perform on-stage theatrics for bonus points would rule. Imagine performing the duck walk or the windmill to get the competitive edge over your friends in a solo battle, or even competing on straight up air guitar skills alone. This would also be a good test of whether Project Natal is all it’s cracked up to be. It’s one thing to flail your arms around in some uninspired breakout clone, but it’s something else entirely use a motion-sensing camera to make an even bigger fool out of yourself.
