Game-Breaking Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Glitch Reported
By Jared Newman
As an addendum to our list of Assassin’s Creed:Brotherhood walkthroughs and guides, I wanted to point out a game-breaking glitch that’s being reported on Ubisoft’s forums. After using the tunnel system for the first time, some players are entering an endless de-synchronization (i.e. death) loop at the other end of the tunnel. Because the game autosaves after using the tunnel, these players are becoming trapped, and the only way out is to start a new game. Players are reporting the problem on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Multiple players say the bug happens at around the six or seven hour mark, during Sequence 2, Memory 4. It’s possible that the bug occurs when you travel to an area you’re not supposed to, such as an old area or district. A Ubisoft support moderator says he has no workaround suggestions and has reported the glitch to the developers. “The quickest solution is most likely to just start a different profile from the main menu,” the mod says. “However If I receive any additional information I will post details here.” [via Ubisoft]

I had 5-6 hours in, was just doing a bit of city sightseeing and decided to try out the tunnels. Even though I selected an exit that was inside the discovered/syncronized part of Rome, upon exit there is instant desyncronization. It is realy quite unbelivable, and unexeptable, that UbiSoft has released something like this. What standards do their testers have? And is there no limit as to what at game consumer has to endure when it comes to what constitues a finished game, that acctually can be played straigth out of the box..? It took 15-20 minutes to install updates even before the game started – and still it cannot be called finnished…

Yep this just happened to me; can't do anything but restart.
Friday, November 19, 2010 11:37AM
Yeah i'm back to confirm that if you do this it KILLS your game you have to restart the whole thing.
do not under any circumstance go in a tunnel.

Similar one caught me at the start of 3.1, I did the first Christina mission and now I'm trapped in Florence, with no way back to Rome, no weapons, no money, no missions, nothing. So it's jsut as bad as an endless death loop.

I just went back through the tunnel after desynchronizing a few times. It didn't kill me right away, only if I walked away from the tunnel.

ive had a very odd glitch! when i talk to the doctor or to a mission giver my screen goes white with the warning loading screen till i push a button, very annoying when your trying to buy things and you cant see what on earth your buying!!
Saturday, November 20, 2010 10:15PM
Same here. Glitch and upon entering the tunnel just froze and had to restart my frigging game!!!!! Plus even when killing enemies and finishing tasks. it keeps saying mission failed. ugh. so irritating!!!

Glad I read this.. I will stay out of those damn tunnels till they patch that! My game froze after going in a tunnel and selecting the city, luckily for me it was fine when I restarted my xbox.

Mine is similar but not quite the same. I upgraded a tunnel (I was only up to three) went to ignite a tower and died. Because my last save point was the tunnel, it started the endless cycle of death. Worse part, those dang harpies that are always asking for money are standing over my dead body asking for more. What a way to start the morning.

While playing as Desmond in the real world I noticed I cannot go back to playing as Ezio because everytime I enter the animus he gets straight back out which is annoying to say Ubisoft never tested all of these out. It's ruined my game and Lucy was outside but after talking to her she completly dissapears. I don't know if any of you had this problem, it seems like i'm the only one.

I have this too. I am not far in the story but I bought a ton of stuff for the Centro district and some others. I'm not too upset about it though because I got the extra outfits with my uPlay points and you can not switch back to Ezio's original outfit they give you at the beginning of the game if you change to the Noble's attire or Altair stuff. They should have put in an option for this. Oh, and not having a game crippling glitch like this tunnel thing would have been a great idea too. At least I got to level 50 in MP without any troubles

I too had this problem that you speak of David. I had just come across Leo in the story and bought my first piece of equipment back. I was thoroughly enjoying the game up until then. Has anyone spoken to Ubisoft about these glitches? I was wondering if they were going to release a patch in the near future or if they expected us to just start over… wasting the 15 hours that I had already put into the game… Thanks for the help everyone.

Hey guys sorry to hear about this problem i was wondering if anyone had used the tunnels and glitched after beating the game, just wondering since i dont want it to happen to me?
Saturday, November 27, 2010 6:34PM
Yes I am peeved with Ubi. I can't even reenter the animus to return to Ezio because of that dumb gamebreaking glitch…how the hell could Ubi release the game in this state?.. they need to get better testers.
Furthermore they are ignoring my email and are being silent on the matter. I just want to continue the damn game. I am 28% synched and I'm no way starting again. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.. they'd better fix it soon and give some form of apology. These gamebreaking bugs are inexcusable.

To avoid the tunnel glitch, don’t use them until after you’re introduced to them in the main story line. I’ve used them after that without issue. Although, I’ve avoided the tunnel which is over by the very first mission to find the doctor. That’s the one that first glitched for me and I’m scared to use it. I’ve used most of the other ones without issue though.

so apparently game developers are utilizing customers as paying testers. eventually we should start charging them every time we find a bug because this is really starting to get ridiculous.
Monday, November 29, 2010 11:58PM
I beat the game went back to do “the truth” puzzles…pointless all I could do was run into constant dead ends for an hour after 3 different attempts so I decided to go back and into Rome….only to discover I’m Desmond and can’t get back to play as Ezio…WTF!!!!

I finished the last hyro glyph 10 and i ran through the maze and talked to subject 16 and after that i am stuck in virtual training mode and cant do absolutely anything. I finished the game luckily but i can't get 100%.
Thursday, December 2, 2010 6:56AM
hello, i finished glyth 10, and watched the video. afterward, i exited the Aminus and i ended up 1/2 in the chair and couldnt walk around, then i went back to into the chair (the only option), and i was in my white outfit, i lost my Helmschmied Drachen Armor and i couldnt seem to get it back on again… then i went out the aminus again, and Lucy(?) is gone… what did i miss/???

I am pissed off! Just fell victim to this damn glitch and there's not a thing I can do about it!? WTF! Restart the game, that's the answer, how about make a damn patch! This never came up in beta tests? I doubt it! I am really beside myself and sure as hell don't feel like starting over. Oh well, seeing as I've already bought the game, all I can do is bend over and take it
Friday, December 3, 2010 4:28PM
same friggin thing….but it happened to me in sequence 8… after hours of playing. to include getting all assasins trained and just about finishing the game. wtf.
Sunday, December 5, 2010 3:58PM
I have the same problem as you and theres no way to actually get back into a proper memory cos theres no dna menu
Thursday, December 9, 2010 12:45AM
Yep me to I just unlocked 2 tunnels and decided to test them out and now I walk 10 feet and get desynched everytime.
Glad I rented I might just return it and wait for a proper patch because I just downloaded an update today (dec-09-2010) and I just got the famous "tunnel glitch".
Back to Gamefly for me
Tuesday, December 21, 2010 11:01PM
this also happened to me earlier today. its a good thing that i finished the game already but it sucks not to be able to finish the other side missions and achievements because of this.
Wednesday, December 22, 2010 11:47AM
I have found one way around the glitch, mine happened at the tunnel near Mausoleo Di Augusto, right where the game starts. I ran north, then east to the big stone wall thats shaded dark on the map and then followed it south around that area. just gotta avoid it now and hope it doesnt interfere with the rest of my game til they get a fix
Thursday, December 30, 2010 11:25AM
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen; I was playing single player, a little over twenty four hourse in I guess, and all of a sudden my screen went black and I was tossed into multiplayer. Now, whenever I try to press start from the main menu it takes me traight into multiplayer again, it doesn’t even give me other options. This is ridiculous and very frustrating. I want to finish my campaign.

Just FYI, the most recent AC Brotherhood XBox 360 update does not fix this issue. I played it for the first time just two days ago after downloading the update immediately upon putting the game into console. I still experienced the "tunnel glitch" exactly as described in previous comments. Ubisoft support told me to download the update again after deleting all ACB files as the update was designed to prevent the problem, which it obviously did not. So now, I can either start over and avoid the tunnels…or return the game for a full refund and avoid Ubisoft garbage in the future. Very disappointing effort on the part of Ubisoft.

Thursday, March 31, 2011 11:50AM
That’s weird, maybe it’s a good thing that I NEVER use the tunnels. I’ve renovated them all to rebuild the city. But I don’t ever use them. Hopfully they have made a patch for this.
