Final Fantasy XIII Will Look Better, Use Less Discs, on PS3

Brace yourselves, fanboys: A report in Famitsu (via FinalFantasy-XIII.net) says Final Fantasy XIII be graphically superior on the Playstation 3 compared to the Xbox 360 version, and it’ll sound better, too. That’s because Square Enix will use compressed video and audio on the Xbox 360 in order to fit the game on DVDs, while the Playstation 3′s Blu-ray drive affords a much greater storage capacity and won’t need compression. And even with the compressed assets, FFXIII will still spill onto multiple Xbox 360 DVDs, while the PS3 version is contained on a single, dual-layer Blu-ray disc. Fortunately, only the audiophiles and video nuts among us will notice the difference.
Still, we’re starting to see several cases where the Xbox 360′s DVD format can’t contain an entire game. Last week, we noted that Mass Effect 2, an Xbox 360 exclusive, will be split into two discs, with the break occurring at a strategic plot point. Earlier, id Software’s John Carmack said the upcoming Rage needs to be released on two discs for the Xbox 360 version, and even that’s a cram in order to avoid arbitrary cuts at inopportune times in the game. I expected no less from Square Enix to support their home system and make Final
Fantasy 13 the superior version on the PS3, even if the situation is a little coincidental…
I'm eagerly anticipating nothing but the best from this game in terms of graphical quality, gameplay, story, and replayability.

its make for ps3 and ported to 360, obviously it will look/sound better on the ps3. guess it will be the first ps3 game to look better than the 360 version

I was hoping that square enix would pull a bioware on us and make their non-home system look better to compensate for previous ignorance (ie with dragon age). unfortunately i don’t have a ps3 so i will have to experience my first square enix game on 360, unless of course they release this on the pc

I'm so excited for this games release, it's pretty close now. It's been so long since a new FF game came out, I've been going into withdrawl. and since I didn't really like 12, I haven't REALLY enjoyed a new Final Fantasy game since 10 and that's almost a decade ago! I was reading a preview for FF13 at http://ps3rpgs.com and it looks phenomenal, the graphics look incredible, hopefully they will be better on the PS3 than the 360
