Hey, remember Electronic Gaming Monthly? (No, I won’t lead every story like that today.) The print magazine that bit the dust when UGO.com bought sister online outlet 1up.com last January is supposed to rise from the ashes in March. EGM’s original founder, Steve Harris, who re-acquired rights to the magazine, said earlier this year that the new EGM would return to print on December 1, but obviously that didn’t pan out. Now Harris tells GamesIndustry.biz that everything’s on schedule for next year. Time Warner Retail will handle the magazine’s marketing and sales, and you should see EGM back on newstands, just like the old days.

Harris said the magazine will have a weekly digital format in addition to the monthly print installments. “Not only does the digital companion allow us to offer additional content that is complementary to the print magazine, but it also gives us a way to communicate with our readers and update the print product in an ongoing manner,” he said. Several well-known writers from the original magazine will return, including Dan “Shoe” Hsu and Demian Linn, whose gaming blog and community site Bitmob will contribute news content. I wish them luck. [Gamesindustry.biz via MTV Multiplayer]
