EA May Be Working On Wii Football Trainer
By Lawrence Sonntag
Speculation has been rampant since EA Canada Community Manager Alain Quinto tweeted that EA Sports would announce an entirely new game in January. Some guessed that the new title would be a WWE or baseball game. The current rumor is that the game in question is much more novel than previously suspected.
Destructoid reported today that an unnamed yet reliable source revealed that the game in question is a football game, but is several shades different from Madden. Currently dubbed NFL Trainer, the game will put players next to a virtual NFL coach to teach them how to properly throw and hold a football. In addition, the game will contain football-based workouts and challenges.
EA Sports figures that current workout software on the Wii are geared more for women, including Nintendo’s Wii Fit and their own EA Active. Football will probably draw the masculine eye, provided that the cover art also displays a medium-rare steak and a well endowed woman.
Speculation has also turned to potential accessories included with the game, as an older announcement by EA Sports would indicate. Citing the “Rock Band peripheral strategy,” EA Sports may very well include some sort of football that can house a Wii remote, or more likely, something huge, heavy, unwieldy, and made out of white plastic.
