Left 4 Dead 2 Action EA Disses Australia Over Left 4 Dead 2

Electronic Arts reserved some harsh words for the Australia Classification Board, after it refused to rate the upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2. Australia, which is notorious for banning violent and otherwise adult-themed games, frowned upon Left 4 Dead’s “realistic, frenetic, and unrelenting violence, which is inflicted upon ‘the Infected’ who are living humans infected with a rabieslike virus that causes them to act violently.”

In response, EA spokeswoman Tiffany Speckler said this: “It’s funny that a place like Australia, which has come up with some pretty violent material in the past with something like Mad Max, can effectively ban video games for the same reason.” Of course, Australia subscribes to the flawed thinking that video games are inherently more dangerous than movies, because they’re interactive. Valve, Left 4 Dead 2′s developer, is appealing the non-classification. [Gamespot Australia via GamePolitics]
