Dragon Age Awakenings Officially Announced, Ostagar Delayed
In a busy day of news for Dragon Age: Origins expansion content, Bioware has both officially announced Dragon Age: Origins – Awakenings for all platforms, and delayed Return to Ostagar.
First, Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, which was previously hinted at by online retailers. As it turns out, most of the details of that story were spot-on, despite the spotty translation from Czech. The expansion will take players to a new area called Amaranthine, and promises an “epic story that will allow players to unravel the secrets of the darkspawn – and their true motivations!”
Awakening will also include new enemies, with the press release listing an Inferno Golem and Spectral Dragon specifically. Other additions include an increased level cap, new abilities, spells, items, specializations, and five new party members. Players can choose to take their party from the original Dragon Age into the expansion or form a new runnin’ crew.
As far as story, the expansion “occurs following the events of Dragon Age: Origins and puts players into the role of a Grey Warden Commander entrusted with rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens.”
As far as Return to Ostagar goes, there’s not terribly much to report. A brief post on the Bioware forums states:
We’re sorry but the planned Return to Ostagar downloadable content scheduled to launch on January 5th has been delayed for all platforms.
We will update you as new information becomes available.
