Crysis 2 has finally hit the shelves, and while the gameplay trailers certainly look attractive, we all know that there’s more to a game than good graphics. With that in mind, if you’re unsure of whether or not you want to spend your hard-earned cash on this title, we’ve put together a roundup of some of the major reviews of the game to give you an idea of whether or not it’s worth purchasing.
- The good people over at Gamereactor weren’t too impressed with the story, but they were absolutely thrilled with the degree of freedom the game gives players. They characterize is as the kind of first-person shooter game that encourages you to adopt a number of different strategies for success. That was enough to earn it a 9/10.
- The folks at GamePro awarded it with 4.5/5 stars, citing the game’s combination of real-world locations with a sci-fi story as a unique element that allows this title to stand out in the crowd of first-person shooters.
- IGN have given the game a score of 9.0, or “Amazing.” They found that the Nanosuit which the player manipulates allows the game to stay exciting while we figure out new and exciting ways to use it.
- The G4 team gave the game a rating of 4/5, explaining that while it isn’t the gamechanger some fans may have been expecting, it does remind us that the first-person shooter genre should inspire developers to be as ambitious as possible with their games.
