A New Spider-Man Game in the Works?
By Joseph Oliveto
Spider-Man’s popularity as a comic book character hasn’t been hurt by the lackluster Spider-Man 3 and the hilariously doomed musical; a cinematic franchise reboot and a shockingly decent video game–2010′s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions–have kept even non-comic book readers interested in the web-slinger.
So yeah, it makes sense that, according to G4, a new Spider-Man game is going to be announced at this year’s WonderCon in New York City.
Beenox, the developer that brought us Shattered Dimensions, will be the creative force behind this game as well; odds are they’ve been pleased with the success of their last effort and want to see if they can do it again. Marvel scribe Peter David will be helping with the story, and Josh Keaton, who has lent his vocal talents to this character before, is likely to reprise the role of Spidey.
The official announcement, with further details on the project, will be made on April 1.
These types of games usually disappoint–after all, they exist merely to make a quick buck from gullible gamers–but with the Shattered Dimensions giving us a pleasant surprise, we won’t shoot down this idea just yet. Even if this particular release doesn’t thrill us, Thor and Captain America are also getting games of their own. One of these titles should satisfy us comic book/game nerds.
Do you expect that this will be worth your money, or are you gonna avoid it? Tell us in the comments!
